waxing care
-
-Discontinue all use of retinoids and other chemical exfoliating agents for at least 72 hours. This is very important and failure to do so could result in lifting of the skin as these products compromise the integrity of the skin. This includes all topical prescription acne medication.
-If you are a sunbather, or frequent the tanning salon, it is important to stay out of the sun (artificial or not) for a minimum of 24 hours prior to your service. Waxing services will not be performed if any redness due to sun exposure is present on the skin. This measure is taken solely for our clients' safety and benefit.
-If you enjoy exercising, please do so before your waxing appointment. Exercise directly after is not recommended due to the higher risk of causing breakout.
-It is a good idea to have a small amount of cortisone cream on hand as this will ease any irritation that you may experience as a result of your service.
-
-Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of 24 hours, or until the tenderness subsides.
-Avoid all mechanical and chemical exfoliating agents for at least 24 hours. This includes all topical acne medication as well as all forms of retinoids.
-Avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 12 hours. This is especially important if you are susceptible to breakout as the bacteria naturally present on the skin and in perspiration are more easily able to enter the hair follicle and cause inflammation during this time.
-Avoid hot tubs for a minimum of 12 hours as your skin is more easily able to absorb the chemical toxins present in most hot tubs.
-Avoid fragranced products of all kinds (soaps, lotions) for at least 12 hours.
lashes & brows
-
What should I do BEFORE a lash lift & tint?
-Come with a clean, makeup-free face.
-Do not wear contacts.
-Must be at least six weeks from your last lift and tint appointment.
-Lashes must be in healthy condition.
-Complete the online consent form and waiver provided in your confirmation email.
How long AFTER my lash lift & tint can I shower?
You must wait 24 hours after a lift & tint to shower. We use 24 hours as a buffer time to allow the lashes to set properly and avoid any issues with the lift. After the 24 hours waiting period you may wash your face and lashes like normal.
Can I still wear mascara AFTER a lash lift & tint?
You can wear mascara 24 hours after getting a lash lift and tint.
How often should I wash my lashes AFTER a lash lift & tint?
You should be washing your lashes daily with your lash wash. Even on days you do not wear makeup, lashes collect allergens, sebum and bacteria that need to be washed away to maintain lash health. Lashes should be washed especially thoroughly when wearing makeup to avoid damage to the lashes. If you are a first time Lift & Tint client of Mermadez Beauty, you will be provided with a lash wash in your aftercare kit. The lash wash is also available for purchase from Mermadez Beauty.
How do you wash your face AFTER a lash lift & tint?
You can wash your face while avoiding the lash area for the first 24 hours. You can wash your face as you normally would after the 24 hour waiting period.
How do you sleep with a lash lift & tint?
It is recommended to sleep on your back while you have your lashes lifted and tinted. Sleeping on your sides and face can cause the lashes to bend or break, causing damage to the lashes.
Additional After Care:
-Avoid steam and saunas as much as possible to avoid relaxation of the lift
-Avoid picking or pulling your lashes
-Keep your lashes conditioned with a moisturizer (jojoba oil). If you’re a first time lift and tint client with Mermadez Beauty, you will be provided with a conditioning oil in your aftercare kit. The conditioning oil is also available for purchase from Mermadez Beauty.

spray tan care

Before Your NUDA Spray Tan
For the best, most even tan, skin prep starts 24–48 hours before your appointment.
24–48 Hours Before
- Exfoliate thoroughly from neck to toes, focusing on dry areas (elbows, knees, ankles, feet, hands). Use a gentle scrub or mitt, not harsh acids or retinol.
- Shave or wax at least 24–48 hours prior to avoid irritation and dark “dots” in open follicles.
- Pause retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide and strong lightening products on the body for 3–5 days before and after your tan (face and body).
-
- Take a cool or lukewarm shower and cleanse skin well.
- Do NOT apply: lotion, body oil, deodorant, perfume, makeup, or self-tanner. These can block the NUDA solution and cause patchiness.
- Wear dark, loose clothing and loose sandals/flip flops. Avoid tight waistbands, sports bras, leggings, socks, and boots right after your tan.
- Bring or wear old underwear or a dark swimsuit if you prefer to remain partially covered.
-
Immediately After Your Spray Tan
Your tan is still developing on the skin. Treat it gently.
While It’s Developing
- Follow the rinse time given at your appointment:
- Rapid NUDA solutions: Rinse in 1–5 hours (lighter color = shorter wear, deeper color = longer wear).
- Classic NUDA solutions: Rinse in 8–12 hours (often overnight).
- Until your first rinse:
- Avoid water, sweat, rain, crying, pets licking, or washing hands if possible.
- Do not exercise, sit in saunas, or take hot baths/showers.
- Avoid tight clothing, bras that dig in, socks, and jewelry that can rub or leave lines.
- If you feel a little sticky, this is normal. A finishing powder may be applied to reduce stickiness and transfer, but it is not required for your tan to work.
First Rinse
- Rinse with lukewarm water only for 1–3 minutes.
- Use your hands to gently guide the bronzer off; do not use soap, loofahs, or washcloths at this rinse.
- Water may run brown—that’s just the cosmetic bronzer, not your tan coming off.
- Pat skin dry with a clean towel. Do not rub.
Aftercare: First 24 Hours
- Avoid heavy sweating, swimming, hot tubs, and very hot showers.
- Skip perfumes, harsh body washes, scrubs, and exfoliating mitts.
- Do not apply heavy oils or self-tanner on top of your fresh spray tan.
Your full NUDA color will develop over the next 24 hours after the first rinse. It is normal to look lighter right after rinsing and deepen through the day.
Ongoing Care (To Make Your Tan Last 7–10+ Days)
To extend the life of your NUDA spray tan and help it fade evenly:
Daily
- Moisturize 1–2 times per day with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion. Well-hydrated skin holds color longer and fades more smoothly.
- Use a mild, pH-balanced body wash. Avoid bar soaps, sulfates, and drying formulas.
- Pat skin dry after showers instead of rubbing.
Things That Fade Your Tan Faster
- Long, hot baths or showers
- Pools, hot tubs, and ocean water (chlorine and salt)
- Exfoliating products, body scrubs, loofahs, and shaving
- Retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, and acne treatments on tanned areas
If you swim or soak, rinse off with fresh water afterwards and reapply moisturizer.
When You’re Ready for Your Next Tan
- Once your tan is near the end of its life and looking uneven, do a thorough full-body exfoliation over 1–2 days to remove as much remaining color as possible before your next spray.
- It’s better to fully remove an old tan than to layer a new tan over old, patchy color.
Important Notes & Disclaimers
- NUDA solutions do not contain SPF. You can still burn. Always use sunscreen once your tan has fully developed.
- Inform your provider ahead of time if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have very sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or open cuts/sunburn
- Have ever reacted to self-tanners or spray tans
- Results vary based on skin type, hormones, medications, and how closely before/after care is followed.
