FAQ

  • Electrotherapy uses electric devices (ex. LED therapy, high frequency therapy, microcurrent therapy) to assist in a facial treatment. This is known as a corrective spa facial treatment with the inclusion of esthetic devices. This is also known as a European Facial.

  • The use of light to help improve the appearance of the skin is know as light therapy or light-emitting diode (LED) therapy.

LED is actually a NASA technology. LED therapy was adopted by the skincare community when its ability to heal wounds & tame inflammation was noticed.

An LED device uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) of different colors and wavelengths, typically red, blue, and/ infrared. LED uses low-power, non-coherent light that generates low or no heat. LED is a safe, effective device if used properly.

    Benefits of LED include:

-Improvement in wrinkles & fine lines.

    -Reductions of acne (grades 1-2).

    -Increased soothing of irritated skin.

  • The high frequency device uses electrical currents filtered through glass electrodes containing different gases (usually argon or neon) to stimulate our skin.

    Benefits of High Frequency include:

    -Stimulates surface tissues.

    -Increases circulation & blood flow.

-Helps heal existing papule & pustules from acne.

-Deliverers germicidal effect & kills bacteria on the skin.

-Calms skin, Reduces redness & inflammation.

  • Microcurrent devices use multiple waveforms and frequencies to stimulate cellular response. These devices do not visibly contract muscles; instead, they stimulate the muscle using electrodes and specific movements.

Microcurrent is a treatment used for Aging (wrinkles, including fine to deep), sagging skin, slack muscles; and Texture (improve hydration & dull appearance).

    Benefits of Microcurrent include:

-Stimulates cellular function by increasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

    -Stimulates myofibrils in muscle.

-Assists lymphatic system to remove fluid.

    -Tightens and firms the tissue.

-Constrict blood vessels & decreases blood flow.

  • Preteens can start a basic skincare routine around the age of 9 or 10. This is when hormonal changes can lead to increased oil production & potential skin problems.

Teens can also benefit from a skincare routine, typically around 12 or 13. The Focus should be on gentle cleansing, moisturizing, & sun protection.

    1. Establishing healthy habits- Starting a skincare routine early helps preteens & teens develop good habits for taking care of their skin, promoting long-term health.

    2. Preventative care for acne & skin issues- A consistent skincare routine can minimize the risk of acne & other common skin issues, fostering clearer & healthier skinduring adolescence.

    3. Boosts confidence- Proper skincare contributes to a positive self-image, boosting confidence during a period where appearance can significantly impact a teen’s self-esteem.

  • Generally, it’s safe to start professional treatments with an esthetician around the age of 12 or 13.
